Six things young India is on about this week, and half of them are happening inside a college campus. Here is the list.
1. Campus Core
College life is the content now. A Maharashtra reel about the mail that says your attendance has put your exam eligibility in question. Yaari dosti at Modi College, Patiala. A parody called “Average delhi university election” roasting DUSU season. A sixteen year old at IIT Delhi treated like a celebrity sighting. Different states, same semester. 2. Regional Comedy Szn
The funniest thing on the internet this week was a Punjabi meme built on a Prem Dhillon track. Right behind it: Marathi reels, a Tamil family twist short, a Bangla natok prank, and Bigg Boss Tamil troll edits. Almost none of it is in English and none of it needs to be. The comedy travelling furthest right now is the comedy that stays in its own language.
3. Placement Szn
Two moods, one season. Somebody got the HR call for a Microsoft PPO and the whole thread is celebrating like it is their own offer. Somebody else, deep in a competitive programming grind, got told: bhai tier 1 se nahi hai na tu, kuch nahi hoga tera. That is the entire Indian tech placement experience in one sentence. It also belongs on a shirt, and we are thinking about it.
4. Ganpati Szn
Idol reveal videos out of Dhoolpet, Hyderabad are everywhere. The hand comes off the cloth, the crowd loses it, and a local craft tradition gets the whole country as its audience for a week.
5. GTA 6 Waiting Room
Indian gamers reacting to GTA 6 release memes. The joke is not the game. The joke is the waiting, and how long all of us have been doing it.
6. Protest Core
A short literally titled “GenZ protest core” is doing the rounds. It is small and it is early, but it has a name now. If it grows, it gets its own story.
